System Charts
Charts Included In This Section:
The following charts are included within this section:
- Boundary Flows - uses National Grid’s forecasted
levels of locational demand and levels of locational generation to
find zones where levels of generation might need to be reduced in
order to match up supply and demand
- BUSoS Price - shows the BSUoS price and nearer to realtime key components of this price
- Frequency - plots the range of frequency in each half-hourly period versus the evolving fuel mix over time
- Inertia Estimate - this estimate, based on National Grid's data, accounts for both pre-balancing (Inertia Estimate (FPN)) and post-balancing (Inertia Estimate) activity
- Live Demand - gives a minute by minute view of demand
- NIV Analysis - uses the IMBALNGC forecast provided by
National Grid (based upon difference between their forecast and the
submitted PNs and adjusts this for the most recently know error in
the market
- System Fuel Mix - system fuel mix plotted levels of generation by fuel type
based on National Grid Operationally Metered data
- System Generation Summary - plots for a given filter
levels of generation broken down by the given Grouping Filter
- System Margin Summary - provides more information
about the margin between levels of generation and levels of
availability in the market
- System Summary - produces a useful summary of the market over a period of time and can be used to identify historical periods of interest. This shows the evolution of all the key prices in the market as well as levels of demand and margin.
What Are The System Screens?
Key system activity can be summarised by considering levels
of generation by fuel type and by considering the key metrics in
the system. These metrics typically revolve around market prices
and the influence on these prices.
The system has a number of natural key metrics including
market prices and demand, but aggregates can also be produced such
as total imbalance volumes and levels of margin within the system
to better understand the key drivers of price changes in the
market.
